Assessment
Cambridge Mathematics uses a research-based approach to provide high-quality feedback to both assessment items and test specifications for your unique context.
Using the Cambridge Mathematics Framework and the team’s expertise we can support you in developing assessments that are a true representation of the intended curriculum. Additionally, the finer detail of the Framework will enable test writers to develop assessment material that goes beyond procedural performance-related activities.
Working collaboratively, we can support you in considering the alignment and organisation of your assessments through the use of the Cambridge Mathematics Framework tool, which maps out the detailed mathematical landscape for learners aged 3 – 19, showing developmental pathways and connections based in evidence and practice. We can work with you to map test specification or assessment items to curriculum content via the mathematical ideas concerned, identifying inconsistencies between curricula and assessments and enabling the development of comprehensive assessments.
We start by understanding your aims and the context of your assessment project. This may include challenges you have already identified, the purpose of your curriculum, specific perspectives that you want to promote and the place of digital technology. This information, alongside our experience and expertise, will help to ensure our partnership is designed to support you in making assessment decisions that best suit your context.
In some situations, there is a need for large-scale changes, but in other situations it may be that a change in one specific area or grade will have the required effect.
Our assessment design solutions can be:
- bespoke designed by Cambridge Mathematics;
- co-developed by Cambridge Mathematics and your team; or
- developed by your team using the Framework with training and support from Cambridge Mathematics.
The key benefits are the development of:
- assessments that are based on evidence from research and practice; and
- assessments aligned to the unique context, aims and wider educational objectives of your curriculum.
