QUESTION 1: the structure of the Framework
Lynne McClure writes: "at the launch of the Cambridge Mathematics Framework I described how, when putting together the first draft, I had considered various ways to ‘cut the maths’". We used the PISA 15 categories of Quantity, Space and shape, Change and relationships, Uncertainty and data handling but found this quite difficult and changed to Number, operations and algebra relations, Geometry and measurement, Data and uncertainty. During the launch we also shared ideas on differentiating between Capability and Appreciation , where appreciation includes the big ideas, and the historical and cultural context.
So the first set of questions from Lynne are:
1) What do you think is the best way to cut the content? Do you have suggestions or can you share examples of other formats.
2) How do these cope with the interconnectedness of maths?
3) What about the inclusion of mechanics and decision maths? Do these need a separate category?
